Welcome to SpendWise (“the App”), developed by ZenithCode Studio (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy describes how we handle your personal information when you use our App. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring transparency regarding what data we access, how it is processed, and how you can control it.

1. Overview

SpendWise is a personal finance management app that helps you record, organize, and analyze your income, expenses, and borrow/lend records. The App operates completely offline and does not require user registration, cloud accounts, or any internet connectivity for its main functions. All your data is stored locally on your device unless you explicitly choose to export or share it.

2. Information We Access

The App may access the following types of information only after you grant the necessary permissions:

a) SMS Messages (Optional)

Permission Used: android.permission.READ_SMS

Purpose: To automatically detect and extract financial transaction details (such as payments, deposits, transfers, or bill reminders) from SMS messages sent by banks, wallets, and merchants. This allows automatic expense tracking without requiring manual entry.

Scope: Only transactional SMS messages are read and processed locally on your device. The App does not access or store personal conversations or other non-financial messages.

Data Handling: Extracted transaction details are used only within the App to update your financial summary and charts. The App does not send or transmit SMS contents to any external server or third-party service.

b) Contacts (Optional)

Permission Used: android.permission.READ_CONTACTS

Purpose: To let you easily select people from your phone contacts when adding borrow/lend records in the Borrower tab. This improves usability by eliminating the need to manually type names or numbers.

Data Handling: Contact information is only used for display within the Borrower tab. It is not uploaded, transmitted, or shared with anyone. The permission is optional, and you can still use manual entry if you deny access.

c) Local Storage / App Database

The App stores all financial data, categories, transactions, borrower details, and reminders locally on your device’s internal storage. This ensures complete control and privacy for the user.

d) File Access (Optional)

When you choose to export data for backup or reports (PDF, Excel, or backup file), the App requests permission to read/write files on your device. Exported files are saved only to your local storage. You choose if and when to share them using your device’s share feature.

e) Notifications

The App may schedule local notifications to remind you of upcoming bills or repayments. These are processed and shown by the Android system locally — no data leaves your device.

3. Data Collection, Storage, and Usage

• Collection Method: Data is collected only from SMS (if permission granted) and manual entries made by the user.
• Processing: All processing happens locally within the App on your device.
• Storage: All data is stored in encrypted form in a local database accessible only to the App.
• No Cloud Storage: The App does not use remote or cloud databases.
• No Third-Party SDKs: The App does not use analytics, advertising, or tracking libraries.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal or financial data with any third parties. Data is never transmitted off your device. The only time information may leave your device is when you explicitly choose to export or share files through other apps or communication methods (such as email or WhatsApp). Those transfers are handled entirely by your chosen apps and are governed by their respective privacy policies.

5. Security Practices

• The App stores all data locally within your device’s secure storage area.
• No financial or personal data is sent over the internet.
• The App supports PIN or biometric locks for additional protection of your information.
• We recommend using a strong device password and avoiding sharing exported files with untrusted apps or individuals.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

• Data is retained on your device until you delete it manually or uninstall the App.
• Uninstalling the App removes all stored data permanently.
• You may export your data anytime to create backups or move it to another device.
• We do not maintain any copies or backups of your data on external servers.

7. User Control and Consent

• Permissions (SMS, Contacts) are requested transparently only when needed for their respective features.
• You can deny or revoke permissions anytime through your device settings; the App will still function with manual entry.
• We will never request permissions unrelated to the App’s core functionality.
• All exports, backups, and shares are initiated solely by you.

8. Legal Basis and Compliance

This Privacy Policy complies with the Google Play User Data Policy, the Permissions and APIs that Access Sensitive Information Policy, and applicable data protection laws including GDPR principles regarding transparency, purpose limitation, and user control. We only request permissions that are directly related to the core, user-visible functionality of the App.

9. Children’s Privacy

SpendWise is not directed toward children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If a parent or guardian believes that a child has used the App and entered personal data, they can contact us for deletion assistance.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect improvements or regulatory changes. We will update the “Effective Date” at the top of this page when changes occur. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
